86-01-30.1 Controlling Microcomputer Viruses
نویسنده
چکیده
Microcomputer virus programs have become a serious problem for users of DOS-based microcomputers. Although the number of viruses in circulation is growing steadily, fewer organizations are being disrupted by infections. Prompt detection of (and effective response to) virus infections is limiting the damage. The prudent course of action for organizations that use DOS-based microcomputers is to implement a balanced program of prevention, detection, and recovery. This article, the first in a two-part series, addresses virus controls.

86-01-10.1 Audit and Control of Micro-Mainframe Systems
Changes in the computer industry have increased the importance and sensitivity of micromainframe links. Over the past 10 years, for example, microcomputer hardware and micromainframe link software have improved significantly. Network technologies and vendor selections have increased, creating a multivendor, multiservice environment. The use of fiber optic cabling has increased the number of cir...
متن کاملA Microcomputer-Based Simulator for Digital Control Systems
A microcomputer-based simulator for digital control systems is proposed. The proposed simulator is a hybrid system in which the plant is simulated by conventional method of analog computers and other parts of the system including generation of input signal is performed digitally, using a Z-80 based microcomputer. To overcome the difficulty of programming in assembly language, and at the same ti...
متن کامل86-01-35 Counteracting Viruses in MS-DOS Systems
The trapdoors programmed into the first DOS-based personal computers still persist today, providing relatively easy access for viruses and worms. By learning how malicious software exploits these weaknesses, security managers can develop a coordinated defense to counteract virus attacks now and in the future. This article describes how MS-DOS startup processes can become exposed to viruses, dis...
متن کاملAn EMG Control System for an Ultrasonic Motor Using a PSoC Microcomputer
The author investigated the possibility of developing a myoelectric elbow prosthesis powered by an ultrasonic motor. Ultrasonic motors have some features that make them uniquely suited to powering prosthetics: they deliver high torque under low-speed operation, they are compact in size and they produce no electromagnetic noise. Typically, the threshold-level of an EMG (electromyogram) is adopte...
متن کاملThe relationship between ambulatory blood pressure and physical activity in young and older shiftworkers. A quantitative assessment of physical activity using a microcomputer with acceleration sensor.
We studied the relationship between physical activity and ambulatory blood pressure (BP) in young and older shiftworkers by simultaneous recordings of activity, blood pressure and pulse rate (PR). Activity was assessed using Activetracer, a self-contained microcomputer with an acceleration sensor, attached to a waist belt. Ambulatory BP was monitored every 30 minutes for 48 hours with a TM2421....
